Medium Range Ultrasonic Testing (MRUT)

The MRUT (Medium Range Ultrasonic Testing) technology provides a versatile solution for inspecting areas from approximately 25 mm to 3,000 mm from the inspection point. Utilizing guided and bulk wave techniques, MRUT effectively covers the near-field range that Long Range UT (LRUT) cannot reach, extending TechCorr’s inspection capabilities.

Key MRUT Applications

Light-coated, free-standing pipes: Quick circumferential scanning on pipes with minimal coating (3-4 mm) for precise defect detection.
Pipe supports: Axial scanning allows detection of corrosion under pipe supports from the top.
Inaccessible areas: Side (circumferential) scanning enables inspection up to 3 meters (~10 ft) from the inspection point.
Tank and plate inspection: Efficient inspection of walls or bottom surfaces, covering up to 1 meter (3 ft) per scan pass.
Rail head inspection: Guided wave techniques inspect the rail head’s top surface.
Thin materials: Inspection for thin materials such as aircraft skin and thin laminated metals (0.5 mm to 6 mm).
Surface inspections: Fast surface defect detection.
